Sam Smith splits from US boyfriend 13 Reasons Why actor Brandon Flynn after nine months together
SAM Smith has split from his US boyfriend, 13 Reasons Why actor Brandon Flynn, after nine months as an item, The Sun's Bizarre column can reveal.
The couple started dating shortly before the release of his second record The Thrill Of It All in November, but they called time on their romance last week.
Superstar Sam, 26, last night deleted several snaps of the pair together from his Instagram account.
A source close to the Brit said: “Sam and Brandon had a real whirlwind romance. They really fell for each other.
“But they are both so busy with their careers and unfortunately things just haven’t worked out.
“Sam is obviously devastated. This is the most significant relationship he has ever had.
“Thankfully he is on tour across the US at the moment which has been a welcome distraction.”
His North American jaunt began just as they decided to split and he will now be on the road until the end of November.
But it will be a major change for Sam, who invited Brandon to the UK just last month when they enjoyed dates at Thorpe Park and to the theatre to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Earlier in the year, Brandon also introduced the star to his parents.
Brandon, 24, who plays troubled teen Justin Foley in the hit Netflix drama, spent last weekend partying at New York Pride while Sam stayed just up the coast in Boston ahead of his concert on Tuesday evening.
Speaking about their romance in January, Sam said: “I’m in a relationship right now and for the first time, I think I deserve to be happy.
“I’m actually asking myself if I’m going to be writing some happy love songs soon.”
He was unlucky in love in 2015 too when he had a short-lived relationship with US actor Jonathan Zeizel.
His debut album In The Lonely Hour, written about unrequited love, sold more than 12million copies and won him four Grammys.

Kylie's future is bright
THERE was no chance Kylie Minogue was going to tone down her style after turning 50.
The Aussie singer, who celebrated the milestone last month, looked radiant in this bright orange dress in New York on Tuesday.
Kylie was in the Big Apple for its Pride celebrations and unveiled a dance track dedicated to the city during a gig there on Monday.
The track, called New York City, was pulled from her latest album Golden, released last month. Before launching into the song, she told the crowd: “This particular one didn’t fit the framework of the album.”
Kylie travelled without her boyfriend of three months, GQ mag creative director Paul Solomons, who celebrated her birthday with her.
Last week she declared she is happier than ever after bouncing back from her messy split with love rat actor Joshua Sasse.
She told The Sun: “Life is, I won’t say a little bit, I’ll say a lot, better. Life’s great.”

Shape of loo for Ed
ED Sheeran almost broke a streaming record of a different kind when he had to dash off stage twice in Cardiff to go for a wee on Saturday night.
Explaining the awkward moment on The Big Narstie Show, Ed said: “It was getting worse and worse and worse, you know when you start sweating. Usually, the adrenalin and all the water you drink, you sweat out. But I drank so much water before the show.”
After returning to the stage at the Principality Stadium for the second time, Ed said: “I’ve been gigging since I was 14 and I’ve never done that. And now I do it in front of 60,000 people.”
I’m sure they preferred his apology to the alternative.
Pitture Perfect
WOMEN are fanning themselves and it’s not because of the heatwave.
Leonardo DiCaprio shared a first-look snap of him and Brad Pitt in their film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood on Wednesday.
They play amateur actors in the upcoming flick directed by Quentin Tarantino, which also stars Al Pacino and Margot Robbie.
It’s set during the summer of 1969 while the Charles Manson murders were devastating Tinseltown.
I can’t wait for this one.
Hard to please woman
LIZ Hurley is a tough woman to please.
The actress has revealed she’s turning down her pick of young men because they aren’t familiar with . . . 1970s telly adverts.
Now that she’s 53 she wants a man who understands her youth and influences. She said: “I like to have the same references with people. I like us to remember the same ads – in case my case from the Seventies on TV – so people have an idea what I am talking about.
“I don’t like if you have to sort of edit yourself when you are talking – as you are about to make a reference and they have no idea what you are talking about. “
Liz’s taste in men has also matured, with the Royals star confessing she finds US guys more attractive than Brits nowadays.
Her Aussie ex Shane Warne must not have impressed enough to keep her focus Down Under.
