Dad Kevin, played by Michael Le Vell in the ITV soap, is told the devastating news that his son has developed ischaemia – a condition where the tissue dies after being starved of oxygen – after a consultant at the hospital examines the little lad’s feet.

The shocked mechanic is stunned as the doctor tells him it’s spreading and that Jack’s foot needs to be taken off as soon as possible to prevent it.

Kev gives the operation the go ahead but is left reeling when Jack comes round and he has to break the news to his son that he’s lost his foot.

Kevin fights back the tears as he tries to explain to the youngster what’s happened and why the doctors needed to remove the foot.

A devastated Sophie sobs to her ex-girlfriend Kate Connor fearing her dad blames her for Jack’s condition.

When Kevin arrives back home after a long and draining week at the hospital he’s rocked when he spots Jack’s football boots.

The sight of the shoes causes the mechanic to break down in tears, devastated by his son’s loss.
