Clooney, 57, was flung 20ft into the air after 65-year-old plumber Antonello Viglino veered into his lane on Tuesday.

Just two days later, he has been pictured hauling himself out of a buggy on the tarmac at Olbia, north-east Sardinia, with quite some difficulty.

Closely followed by hotshot lawyer Amal holding baby Ella, laboriously climbed the steps to the private jet waiting for them.

Wearing a white polo shirt and matching chinos, the Ocean's 11 star held tightly onto railings as she slowly made his way in.

It is unclear where the family was heading or when they will return to Sardinia, where Clooney is directing mini-series Catch 22.

A police source recently told NBC the actor's his family, some of whom are on the island, were deeply worried after the crash.

Cops added: "The families were on the phone last evening reassuring one another, saying how lucky George was. He could have been killed."

Local officials have slammed Viglino, saying he did not "respect the right of way" when he cut across Clooney's bike.

The actor was driving from his home in Puntaldia to a film set in Olbia, on the north-east coast, when the grandfather struck him.

Clooney's helmet shattered as he smashed against the car's windshield at around 60mph and flipped over the handlebars before crashing to the ground.

Viglino told the Italian newspaper Il Gionale his version of events, saying: "I didn't see anything, I had the sun on my eyes."
