Buffy The Vampire Slayer is getting a reboot but with one big change
The hit show is returning to TV with a brand new cast
BUFFY The Vampire Slayer is coming back to TV 15 years after Sarah Michelle Gellar laid down her stakes.
The show is returning with a different cast and a new actress in the title role.
Buffy the TV show, which was adapted from the 1992 film, originally ran for seven seasons over eight years, but came to an end in 2003.
It starred Sarah, 41, as the teen vampire slayer alongside Alyson Hannigan, Seth Green and David Boreanaz.
TV bosses have now confirmed Buffy is returning to the small screen with a new actress in the lead role.
suggests the new star will be a relative unknown and is likely to be a black actress.
She will follow in the footsteps of Sarah and Kristy Swanson, 48, who played Buffy in the movie.
Joss Whedon, who brought Buffy to life in both the film and TV show, is going to be an executive producer on the new series.
Whedon previously admitted he was reluctant to bring the show back.

Speaking to The HR in 2017, he explained: "I see a little bit of what I call monkey's paw in these reboots.
"You bring something back, and even if it's exactly as good as it was, the experience can't be.
"You've already experienced it, and part of what was great was going through it for the first time.
"You have to meet expectations and adjust it for the climate, which is not easily."
