Coronation Street’s Bhavna Limbachia secretly marries in front of small handful of co-stars
CORONATION Street’s Bhavna Limbachia got married in a secret ceremony over the weekend.
The 34- year-old actress, who plays lesbian Rana on the soap, said "I do" during an intimate service in Cheshire in front of a small handful of her Corrie castmates.
Bhavna, who has always kept the identity of her partner private, was joined by Lucy Fallon and Julia Goulding.
Lucy, who plays Bethany Platt, shared a picture of herself dressed up in a stunning yellow dress for the event alongside her boyfriend Tom Leech.
She didn’t comment on where she was but appeared to be in a stunning countryside setting with a lake.
On the ITV soap Bhavna plays Rana who is in a relationship with Kate Connor (Faye Brookes).
The Corrie couple have been dubbed "Kana" by soap superfans, who love their onscreen chemistry.
Her character cheated on her husband Zeedan Nazir (Qasim Akhtar) with Kate – making her the soap's first ever gay Muslim character.
Bhavna previously revealed that she knew the plot would come with its fair share of challenges but she has always been determined to get it right for anyone suffering the same problems in coming out due to their ethnicity or religion as Rana has.
In an appearance on BBC Breakfast, she said: "I felt such a huge responsibility to get the story right so I went away and did a lot of research, even though it was a big weight on my shoulders I just wanted to make sure I did the storyline justice ...
“The storyline is there not to offend people, it's to educate them, it's to spark conversation so it's there to make people aware that there is support available."
Bhavna’s rep declined to comment on her wedding news.
