Claire Foy has ‘still not been paid £100k promised to her after gender pay gap row’

Controversy over her pay hit headlines across the world when it was revealed Matt, who played Prince Philip, was paid more for his role than Claire

THE Crown star Claire Foy says she has not had the full back-pay she was owed to settle her gender earnings row.

The actress, Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix hit, was expected to receive £100,000 from production firm Left Bank Pictures.

The money was to make up for the fact she was paid less than co-star Matt Smith for the royal drama’s first two series. But Claire, 34, has suggested she has yet to see the money.

She said: “That was what was reported that I was back-paid.

“I’ve never mentioned anything about it and neither have the producers. The fact that that is ‘fact’ is not quite correct.”

In an interview with Al Arabiya, Claire added: “It’s Netflix, but it’s a British production company. It happened at the same time as it was coming out with a lot of other people that there was a lot of pay inequality.

"It’s across the board that it became part of a bigger conversation, which is an odd place to find yourself in.”

Claire and Matt were both nominated for Emmy awards for their performances. Left Bank, who make the show, have stated that male and female stars will get the same pay.
