The recovering drug addict has ended up developing real feelings for Max Branning after initially marrying him for money.
EASTENDERS' Rainie Cross is left heartbroken next week when her husband Max Branning rejects her romantic advances.
The recovering drug addict - played by Tanya Franks - has developed feelings for Max (Jake Wood), despite initially marrying him for money, as they continue their elaborate ploy of trying to win custody of his late daughter Abi Branning's baby Abi.
In scenes set to air next week, Rainie dreams of a new life with Max and baby Abi, and she gets excited when looking at magazines with Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton).
A positive Rainie tells Honey that everyone deserves a second chance, making Honey think carefully about her estranged husband Billy Mitchell's (Perry Fenwick) offer to move in with him, amid her financial difficulties.
But Rainie’s dream is short-lived as bad boy Max, once again, crushes her hopes of a romantic liaison between them.
He later confronts her about wanting to be a part of his future, but in an attempt to protect herself she is quick to shoot him down and tell him she was putting on the feelings as part of an act.
