Michelle Keegan has signed up for another series of BBC1 hit Our Girl
SHE has long hinted she would quit Our Girl after the latest series, but I can exclusively reveal Michelle Keegan will return to the BBC1 hit military drama.
The actress will reprise her role as feisty Army medic lance corporal Georgie Lane for a third season in January, when filming begins abroad for two months.
Last week’s series finale ended on a cliffhanger with her character under fire, after striking up a potential romance with captain Charles James, played by heart-throb Ben Aldridge.
A TV source said: “Producers think that Michelle has been really good for the show, after taking over from Lacey Turner, and were keen to write her into a further series after developing her character.
“They have some meaty storylines lined up involving both action and romance.”
Of course, the role extension would mean more time apart for her and hubby Mark Wright, who has been presenting for Extra TV in LA.
Speaking about filming away from home, Michelle said: “I get homesick and I miss my family.
“Luckily we get FaceTime now, so that helps massively.
“But when I go through experiences in my life, even when I was doing Our Girl, I was thinking the whole time, ‘I wish I could show my mum and dad where I am.’ ”
After filming the show in South Africa and Malaysia, Michelle has a good idea of where she would like the next series to go.
She said: “It would be nice to film in Barbados.
“I highly doubt it, but I can dream.”
Good luck with that.
A BBC spokeswoman said: “Our Girl has performed consistently well over the summer and is still being watched by a big audience on BBC iPlayer. We are in discussions about future Our Girl series."

WHAT? Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience, BBC2, 10pm.
WHY? The comedian tries his hand at being a classical musician with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, in time for the Last Night Of The Proms.
Movie winn for Hayley
Hayley Atwell is almost unrecognisable from her most recent TV outing as a prim Edwardian housewife in period drama Howard’s End.
She looked sensational at the premiere of Disney film Christopher Robin alongside co-stars Ewan McGregor, Bronte Carmichael and, er, Winnie The Pooh.
Hayley plays Evelyn who is married to the title character (McGregor).
And she’ll be back on our TV screens early next year in BBC1’s adaptation of best-selling novel The Long Song – playing a nasty slave owner in the three-part drama.

Lonely comic is fed app
FAME and fortune have not helped Britain’s Got Talent finalist Robert White in his quest to find true love.
The comedian, who has Asperger syndrome, has had to quit gay dating app Grindr because people only seemed interested in him for his celebrity status.
Robert said: “I can’t go on Grindr any more. If I had a relationship that would be good, but c’est la vie
“I’ve had a few cheeky offers but that’s them looking at the person on stage – an exaggerated version of me.”
While offers of work have flooded in since he came runner-up to the Lost Voice Guy on the ITV series in June, the best perk has been far more mundane.
Robert, who is touring the UK with The Tank Top Tour from February, said: “On the day after the final my landlord came round and fixed my window. I’d been trying to have that done for ages.”
