Where’s the REAL Best Exotic Marigold Hotel? India filming locations and how to stay in the Ravla Khempur hotel?
Fans of the show can stay in the stunning hotel where the hit films were shot, located in the Rajasthani countryside
THE Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was set in Jaipur, but in real life the filming location was elsewhere in the Rajasthani countryside.
But is it a real hotel and can you stay there? Here’s everything you need to know…
Where is the real Best Exotic Marigold Hotel?
The hotel used in the hit Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films is actually called the Ravla Khempur.
It's located in Kemphur, a small village in the quiet Rajasthani countryside – not busy Jaipur like in the movies.
The hotel was known for being an equestrian hotel prior to the film being shot there in 2012, and it still homes prize winning Marwadi horses.
How can you stay there?
Fans of the show can stay in the Ravla Khempur and walk in the footsteps of the likes of Richard Gere and Judi Dench.
It’s a fully functioning hotel that remains almost identical to how it does in the films, with just the addition of a swimming pool.
You can re-enact scenes from the films around the stunning venue, which includes the tiny Hindu temple where the characters Sonny and Sunaina married, as well as the famous courtyard, which still features the marigold carving from the films.
The hotel costs around £70 per night but this includes all of your meals (only vegetarian) and drinks during your stay.
It is best to and enquire about rates.
