Rapper Kendrick Lamar set to headline Glastonbury alongside Sir Paul McCartney as music festival becomes more ‘forward-thinking’
JAY-Z and Kanye West divided opinion when they were offered Glastonbury slots – but organisers hope it will be third time lucky when it comes to rap headliners.
I can reveal Kendrick Lamar is in advanced negotiations to top the bill in June, after I previously told how bosses Michael Eavis and daughter Emily were also chasing Madonna.
Emily was impressed by Kendrick, at his London show in February and will offer him the chance to perform when the event returns following a year’s break.
A festival insider said: “Kendrick is a slightly more left-field star for Glastonbury.
“Emily was blown away by his show. She knows he may not be to the taste of some of the regular punters, but she and her dad Michael both feel Glastonbury should be forward-thinking and full of diversity.
“They want an eclectic line-up right across the bill.”
Kendrick’s fourth album, DAMN, hit No2 in the charts last year, while All The Stars, taken from the Black Panther soundtrack, reached No5 in January.
Kanye headlined the Saturday night in 2015 while Jay-Z did the same in 2008. Bookies have already made Sir Paul McCartney, favourite to nab one of the top slots. He last played in 2004.
The insider added: “Macca would be an incredible headliner — everyone loves him and he has one of the most famous back catalogues.”
In February Emily said they had already got one top booking.
She explained: “Head- liners should be the best artists around, whether they’re rappers, pop stars or rock bands. It’s about who is going to produce the most exciting show. We always encounter debate, which is great, that’s what it’s all about.”
After Kendrick smashed up a £232,000 Lamborghini during his Brit Awards performance in February, there’s sure to be no shortage of that.
Dua is doing all white
DUA Lipa clearly doesn’t scrimp on her washing powder.
The New Rules singer dazzled in this all-white outfit as she performed at Canadian festival Osheaga, In Montreal, at the weekend.
And just like at most of her gigs, Dua once again appeared to forget her T-shirt, wearing nothing but a skirt, jacket and bra.
As well as jetting across the globe for different festivals, Dua has been busy working on new music with Mark Ronson and Diplo.
She teased last week that the track, called Electricity, will be “coming real soon”.

Manhattan and wife for Justin and Hailey
JUSTIN Bieber and Hailey Baldwin have spent the past few years in the showbiz bubble of Los Angeles.
But since he proposed last month, the couple, have made the decision to turn their backs on Hollywood for a new home 2,800 miles away.
After spending time there for the past few weeks, they have told friends they intend to put down roots in New York for good when they tie the knot.
A source close to model Hailey said: “They have had enough of LA and decided the Big Apple is the place to be.
“They need to be in a big city because of their jobs, and will still have to travel to LA sometimes, but New York will be their base.
“They are thinking they would like a small destination wedding next year . . . but they are sure they want to be in New York and want to find somewhere they can settle down.”
The city that never sleeps seems an apt place for a pair of newlyweds.

The tense row, now resolved, even saw her skip Kim’s baby shower.
Grand slam Robbie's ticking off
X FACTOR bosses must be relieved they have Ayda Field to keep husband and fellow judge Robbie Williams in check.
I can reveal she gave Robbie a dressing down after he nearly made hopeful Andy Hofton cry during the Six Chair Challenge.
Before singing Queen’s Radio Ga Ga in a bid to get a spot in Ayda’s Over-30s category, Andy told the audience at Wembley’s SSE Arena that he was hoping to make his elderly gran proud.
He said: “I’ve been singing on the circuit for 20 years and I’d just like to be here today because my nana, she’s 92, and I’d love her to see the moment where her grandson has a special moment.”
But after negative comments from Simon Cowell and Louis Tomlinson, Robbie quipped: “Well that’ll probably finish her off.”
Ayda quickly leapt to the stage to comfort Andy, causing Robbie to say: “Hands up if you just got told off by your wife.”
It can’t be the first time – and it won’t be the last on this show.

Demi Leaves rehab
DEMI Lovato has checked out of hospital and gone into rehab.
Following her overdose two weeks ago, she flew by private plane on Saturday to a leading addiction facility in an undisclosed location outside of California, where she is expected to stay for a lengthy period.
Shortly after she was first taken to hospital, I told how she would be shunning her previous treatment centre in Los Angeles to avoid temptations from the “wrong crowd”.
After checking out of Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in LA and going to rehab at the weekend, she wrote on Instagram: “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. I now need time to heal and focus on sobriety.”
Good to hear she’s getting the help she needs.

DAVE Bautista has told fans that working on Disney’s next Guardians of the Galaxy movie will be “pretty nauseating” after the firing of director James Gunn.
The actor, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the franchise, said: “@Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG.”
Bond girl
Perrie Edwards could be auditioning for the next Bond girl as she struts out of the pool in this white bikini.
The Little Mix singer cut a fierce figure while holidaying in Mykonos, Greece, with footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Perrie, who looks more Bond villain in the black version of her cossie, has already revealed her Hollywood ambitions.
She said: “I would love to get into movie voiceovers or acting.”
Perrie’s holiday comes weeks after Little Mix finished work on their fifth album, which is set to drop by the end of the year.
She certainly deserves her down time.
