Jermaine Pennant admits his dog killed ex-girlfriend Jennifer Metcalfe’s cat and then he covered it up
Jen was left desperately searching for her missing cat for months because of the lies
JERMAINE Pennant has admitted his dog murdered ex-girlfriend Jennifer Metcalfe's cat and then covering it up.
The actress - who plays Mercedes McQueen in Hollyoaks - was left to think her cat had disappeared when then boyfriend Jermaine Pennant decided to cover up the attack with specialist cleaners.
Writing in his new autobiography and on the , the footballer insists he never said anything about the horrific incident because it would be too upsetting for his ex.
However now he's decided to share it with the world how his Japanese Akita dog Shadow turned their home into the set of a horror movie.
He has told how the couple had to keep his dog away from the cats because of his prey drive towards them, but when they went on holiday it all went wrong.
His friend who was checking on the animals discovered the dog had found his way inside and killed one of the cats leaving blood all over the house.
Jermaine has also revealed:
He and Ashley Cole 'high-fived over a girl's back during threesome'
Footballers had sick 'Monopoly' game where stars 'rented' women to each other
Ashley Cole and Cheryl hid in defender's flat while his angry girlfriend tried to get in
Pennant's dad took his 14th birthday money from him to buy drugs
Jermaine said: "There was blood all over the carpets, the wall, on the banister. This Persian cat was very dead. I can’t imagine the fear of the poor thing. It was a really horrendous, distressing scene."
But instead of telling his girlfriend the truth, the footballer opted to lie and claim the cat had escaped.
And he set about covering up the death, leaving Jennifer to instead become constantly worried about her missing cat.
He said: "We had to organise a professional carpet cleaner and a painter and decorator, because we needed to completely repaint the walls and get new wallpaper. They were a write-off – it was the full works.
"I had to tell Jennifer we couldn’t go home straight away, and had to ask Sam to bury the dead cat far away and very deep."
Jermaine added that Jennifer was upset "for ages" and spent months trying to find her missing cat, but instead of feeling sorry for her, he calls it mortifying for himself.
The former Arsenal star insists that he covered it up because if he had told her the truth then she would have broken up with him.
A representative for Jennifer was unavailable for comment.
