BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker insists he’s not joining Strictly Come Dancing after Twitter blunder

BBC TV presenter told his fans he was ‘100 per cent’ taking part in the dancing show but quickly back-tracked and admitted he’d forgotten to type the word ‘not’

DAN Walker’s fans went wild after he confirmed he was taking part in Strictly Come Dancing on Twitter.

However it turned out the BBC TV favourite had missed out a very crucial word from his statement and had to quickly backtrack.

Dan, who presents BBC Breakfast, had been linked to this year’s dancing competition in recent weeks.

In an attempt to clear up the speculation, he told his followers: “Now then... the rumours are not true.

“I am 100% doing @bbcstrictly this year. Too busy with life, @BBCBreakfast, Football Focus & a new quiz on @BBCOne starting next month called #ChaseTheCase.”

After his elated followers started to congratulate him, Dan realised his mistake and told them: “Ooops!

“NOT DOING. Quite an important word to miss out. I shall be watching from the safety of the sofa #Not.”

Last week, The Sun Online exclusively revealed it would be newsreader Kate Silverton leading the way for the Beeb.

A source said: “Kate has been at the top of the producers’ wish list for more than a decade.

“But she has always put her career and family above everything. Now she’s polishing off her dancing shoes and can’t wait to get started.

“She was asked previously but was reporting on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan so couldn’t do it.

“Kate has made no secret of how much she loves Strictly so being able to take part is a dream come true.”
