CELEBRITY Big Brother has offended fans with the first episode of the latest series after music by Aretha Franklin was played mere hours after her tragic death.

The family of the legendary singer confirmed that the Queen of Soul lost her life on Thursday at the age of 76 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tributes have been paid by stars and fans across the world – however CBB’s use of one of the icon's songs has been slammed as insensitive.

Ms Franklin’s iconic anthem Respect was played as controversial reality star Natalie Nunn made her debut on the Five reality show on Thursday night.

Wearing a crown, the 33-year-old Bad Girls Club star exited a car as Respect was blasted across the CBB studio.

Natalie – wearing a revealing sheer and feathered dress – waved, pouted and twirled as she made her way towards show host, Emma Willis.

Viewers were unimpressed by the use of the music – with Natalie’s entrance being screened after a VT had listed some of her more controversial activities.

Taking to twitter, many were quick to slam the use of the song.

“How dare they play Aretha Franklin to <whoever she is> #cbb,” one viewer blasted on the social media platform.

“I’m sure Aretha Franklin would not have wanted to be played on #cbb. Have done fecking R E S P E C T,” remarked another.

“Not Aretha being used for Natalie from Bad Girls Club’s entrance music,” wrote another – while another fan despaired: “Oh wow. Disrespect for Aretha today of all days. #CBB.”

The music world has been in mourning since Aretha's death was announced earlier in the day.

Mariah Carey – who duetted with Ms Franklin in the past – was among those who paid tribute on social media, branding the late singer: “my inspiration, my mentor and my friend.”

While former American President Barack Obama tweeted: “Aretha helped define the American experience. In her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect.”
