DOCTOR Ranj Singh has revealed his dream of being in a same-sex couple on Strictly Come Dancing.
Earlier this week, the This Morning star was announced as one of the celebrities taking part in the 2018 series alongside the likes of Faye Tozer, Katie Piper and Graeme Swann.
Dr Ranj - who is openly gay - is excited to be taking part in the show, but would love it even more if he could dance with a male professional.
He told : "I would love to dance with a same sex partner.
“I would value a time when same sex couples could dance on shows like Strictly.
"It is incredibly important. We are making progress but I think there is still some way to go.
"It does take time, though we are heading in the right direction.”
The subject of same-sex couples on Strictly has been debated for years, with previous contestants including Judge Rinder and Rev Richard Coles also calling for the programme to make changes.
However the show announced earlier this month it would sticking to a traditional format.
A spokesperson said at the time: "Strictly has chosen the traditional format of mixed-sex couples and at the moment we have no plans to introduce same-sex couples."

Meanwhile Dr Ranj spoke of his love of dancing, telling The Mirror: "I love dancing as a social thing.
“I have been brought up in an Indian family so we dance at everything.
"I would love it if they did a Bollywood week. I would be in my element.
“It is a great Strictly line-up. Everyone wants to do the show, it is the nation’s favourite, so I am pinching myself.”
Yesterday, BBC newsreader Kate Silverton, former Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts and comedian Sean Walsh were confirmed for the line-up.
