Who is Terry on Great British Bake Off 2018? Former air steward from the West Midlands who left in Spice Week
THE Great British Bake Off is back and the judges are now on the hunt for the next baking superstar.
Among them was retired air steward Terry, who was hoping to start a new chapter in his life with success in the baking world. Here's everything you need to know about the amateur baker...
Who is Terry from The Great British Bake Off 2018?
Terry, 56, is a retired air steward from the West Midlands.
As a small child, Terry learned to bake with his grandmother, while he was taught by his dad how to bake bread and make pastry when he was 10 years old.
He hoped to use his background as a prosthetic technician, as well as spoils from his own microbrewery and allotment, to add edge to his bakes.
Terry's background in fine art is a major influence in the design and craftsmanship in the creation of his bakes.
Why did Terry apply for the show?
Terry revealed he was encouraged to apply for the show by his daughters.
He said: "I wanted to change life a little, shake it up a bit, start a new course.
"I am on a new journey in life at the moment, and what better way to start it."
Terry joins a long-line of Midlanders who have starred on the hit baking show, from series three finalist Brendan Lynch, and series four runner-up Ali Imdad.
He left the tent in week five, Spice Week.
In his exit interview the baker opened up about losing the love of his life and how the Channel 4 show had played a big part in helping him with his grief.
He said: "I said I wouldn't get upset.
"It's funny when you're on your own... my wife and I were very happy and that was a massive loss.
"There wasn't anything to fill the void for a very long time so it's given me a focus."

Where was Terry in Dessert Week?
Sandi announced at the beginning of the programme: "Now as you all know unfortunately Terry is not with us today because he is poorly, but with the agreement of absolutely everybody he is going to be allowed to come back next week."
Despite the announcement - which explained that the rest of the bakers had unanimously agreed to allow him to proceed to the following week - many of those watching at home were confused by why the moustached-favourite was missing from the tent.
When is The Great British Bake Off 2018 on Channel 4?
