Who is Manon from The Great British Bake Off 2018?

Manon Lagreve, 26, is a software project manager from London

She grew up in France and learned to bake with her mother and grandmother but her love of all things pastry started in earnest when she moved to London.

She said: "Baking in the tent is great because of the energy in there.

"At home I have a small kitchen and after a few hours baking there would be a lot of mess, so a lot of clearing up always."

Her baking is inspired by her French heritage and also by her travels.

She left the series during Danish Week and was distraught at the idea of leaving the tent.

Why did Manon apply for the show?

She says GBBO was one of the first shows she watched when she moved to the UK.

Manon added that she wanted to go on the show for her "best friend and flatmate, and my closest girlfriends that have always rooted for me and supported me throughout my baking journey".

She's certainly on her way as Manon won Star Baker for her biscuit bakes in week one.

However, it soon emerged the 26-year-old had competed in BBC1 cooking show The Box three years ago which saw her appearance on the Channel 4 show branded a fix.

A TV source said: “Bake Off is all about normal people who enjoy creating food masterpieces being plucked from nowhere to try and become Britain’s top amateur baker.

“It’s meant to be a level playing field for all contestants in terms of stepping into that tent for the first time.

“For one person to have been in a TV environment before gives them a huge advantage. It’s all a bit unfair.”
