Peter Barlow interviewed a new worker at the factory on last night's episode calling her a 'Mediterranean Tina McIntyre' - viewers did not agree
CORONATION Street fans were left amused last night as Peter Barlow called an interviewee at the factory a "Mediterranean Tina McIntyre".
Tina was played by Michelle Keegan and had an affair with Peter shortly before she was killed.
New girl Karina, played by actress Madalina Bellariu Ion, brought memories flooding back for him and he couldn't stop staring at her during the interview.
Afterwards, he said to Carla Connor: "I don't know if you noticed how much Karina looked like a Mediterranean version of Tina McIntyre?"
Glum Carla replied: "No, I hadn't noticed."
Trying to diffuse the awkward atmosphere, Peter added: "No, because the last thing we need is a daily reminder of the biggest mistake of my life.
"Not since I've worked so hard to be a better man since then."
Fans sided with Carla, with one writing on Twitter: "Nope. Not a great Tina McIntyre lookalike #corrie."
A second wrote: "The bird being interviewed looked nothing like Tina McIntyre lol."
A third added: "#corrie that girl looks nothing like Tina."
It wasn't the only thing from the interview that left fans scratching their heads.
Peter's hair appeared to dramatically change between scenes.
Viewers were tickled when the character was seen with a long floppy fringe while he was at the warehouse – but then sporting a shorter style when at home and outside.
One fan slammed the soap producers over the inconsistency of styles, tweeting: “@itvcorrie Do you employ anybody who keeps an eye on continuity? Peter Barlow's hairstyle changes in every scene. It's a complete and utter joke.”
While another asked if he was meant to be channelling a Ricky Gervais character.
“Does Peter Barlow only 'David Brent' his hair with a forward fringe when he is in meetings? It is swept back now he’s alone with Carla,” the viewer asked.
The changing hair caused quite the stir on social media – with many others taking to Twitter to comment on the character’s barnet.
“Why does Peter Barlow have a special hair do for work?” one asked.
“Peter Barlow's hair keeps changing from scene to scene #Corrie #badcontinuity,” tweeted another.
“Is it just me or does Peter Barlow's hair keep changing from floppy fringe to shortish in different scenes?” a further confused fan wrote.
While another joked: “Hey Peter Barlow has the fastest growing hair in showbiz!”
