A funeral cortege with the family coffins was seen driving past Bourtree Cottage, where Bamber fled to after leaving the farmhouse on that fateful night.

The filming location was given a retro makeover, with an old Ford car seen parked outside the cottage where the cast were filming.

As The Sun previously revealed, in the six-part series due to be shown next year, Freddie plays Jeremy Bamber who was found guilty of killing his parents June and Nevill Bamber, their adopted daughter Sheila, and their grandchildren Daniel and Nicholas.

The family were shot dead at their farm in Essex in August 1985 and Bamber was later jailed for life.

Reports of the family tragedy became front page news

The family had been shot 25 times in total and it was believed Bamber was after the family inheritance.

Freddie’s co-stars in the chilling drama include Boardwalk Empire’s Stephen Graham as DCI Thomas “Taff” Jones, who originally believed Bamber’s cover story that his model sister Sheila had killed the rest of the family before turning the gun on herself.

Sheila had reportedly been a patient in a psychiatric hospital and was being treated for schizophrenia several months before the murders.

Reports of the family tragedy became front page news.
