The 26-year-old software project manager from London - who has already been slammed by fans after The Sun's Bizarre column revealed she had appeared in BBC's The Box three years ago - got her cake ready to present to the judges.

But fearing that her tiered chocolate cake would melt in the hot weather, she decided to leave on its acetate wrapper.

It didn't go unnoticed by Paul, who asked: "What's going on? Why wasn't this taken off?" She replied: "Basically my chocolate didn't set."

While Prue described her creation as "beautiful", her co-judge added: "It's a shame you didn't take the plastic off."

Those watching at home took to Twitter to accuse her of cheating.

One wrote: "Anyone else outraged at the cheek of Manon leaving the plastic on? I call cheat "

Another commented: "Manon sorry, not a fan! Cheated with the collar still on her cake! Especially since she’s been on another professional food programme! She needs to go! "

A third shared: "Surely Manon cheated with leaving the sheet on this evening?? Outrageous behaviour "

It comes after GBBO viewers couldn't get enough of Noel Fielding suddenly appearing on screen dressed as Marie Antoinette earlier this week.

The eccentric co-host loomed at one of the contestants, Terry, during the showstopper round looking regal and rather sinister as the Last Queen.

Noel, 45, is known for his outlandish fashion sense but this ensemble really took the biscuit.

Complete with a two-foot wig and green and pink tapestried dress the Mighty Boosh star looked good enough to eat.

The costume was a nod to baker Terry's showstopper masterpiece: a strawberry and champagne Eiffel tower cake.

Noel said: "I made a big sacrifice so you better win.

"This is what I do for you kids - so make it count in the baking!"
