Who is in the Press cast? Charlotte Riley, Ben Chaplin and David Suchet star in the BBC newspaper drama
PRESS, the BBC's new series from the creator of Doctor Foster, got underway on September 6.
This is the cast who are bringing the newspaper drama to life.
Who's in the cast of press and who do they play?
Charlotte Riley as Holly Evans
Riley is best known for playing May Carleton in Peaky Blinders.
You may have also seen her on King Charles III, Close to the Enemy and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.
She's set to appear next in Danny Boyle’s series Trust.
In the Press, she plays the Herald’s deputy news editor, Holly, a workaholic journalist who avoids social life.
But as soon as she gets on the field she begins to question her position as a desk editor.
Ben Chaplin as Duncan Allen
You may recognise Ben Chaplin from his role in Apple Tree Yard, but he has also starred in the TV series Mad Dogs, The Book of Negroes and World Without End.
His film credits include Snowden, Cinderella and 90s war drama The Thin Red Line.
He will also soon be seen in the movie The Children Act.
In Press, he plays Duncan Allen, the charming yet manipulative editor of The Post that also can't keep track of his personal life.
Priyanga Burford as Amina Chaudury
Priyanga Burford starred in King Charles III alongside Charlotte Riley, but also appeared in the TV series W1A, Fearless and London Spy, and as resistance medical officer in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
She will also star in This Time with Alan Partridge.
In the series, she plays The Herald’s editor, Amina an ambitious woman struggling to keep the newspaper out of troubled waters while facing battles in her personal life too.
Paapa Essiedu as Ed Washburn
Paapa Essiedu's most recent roles were in Kiri and The Miniaturist.
Now, he's set to appear in Black Earth Rising alongside Michaela Coel.
In Press he appears as Ed Washburn, a recent graduate from Oxford who gets his first job as a reporter at the post.
He struggles between his idealism and his will to progress his career, but compromises after his application at the Herald is dismissed.
Al Weaver as James Edwards
Al Weaver played Leonard Finch in Grantchester and has also starred in Sherlock and The Hollow Crown.
In the BBC One series he plays investigative reporter James for being one of the best journalists in his field, however his future at The Herald isn't secure.
This makes him very motivated to get the next big scoop and claim a permanent position at the newspaper.
Dave Suchet is George Emmerson
David Suchet is well known for playing the infamous Hercules Poirot character for over two decades.
He has also starred in Decline and Fall, Great Expectations and Hidden.
In Press, he portrays George Emmerson, the CEO of Worldwide News, consisting of a number of huge multimedia companies, including the Post.
He is a man of great power and influence among the British audience.
