Emmy Award viewers in tears as TV director Glenn Weiss PROPOSES live on stage after winning gong
EMMY Award viewers were left sobbing in front of their TV as they watched director Glenn Weiss propose to his shocked girlfriend during his winning speech.
The director spoke emotionally about the award being "bitter-sweet" because of the death of his late mum just two weeks ago, saying she would have been "most proud".
After paying tribute to her, 57-year-old Glenn turned his attention to his other half, Jan Svendsen, explaining why he didn't like calling her his girlfriend.
He said: "You wonder why I don't like calling you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife."
Suddenly the star-studded crowd all stood up on their feet.
They gasped as Glenn asked his now wife-to-be to come up on stage where he got down one knee.

It's the first time there has ever been a proposal live at the Emmys.
After getting girlfriend Jan on stage, Glenn told her in front of the audience: "This is the ring my dad put on my mum's finger, 67 years ago.
"To my brothers and sisters, I didn't swipe it. Dad knows I have it, OK?
"I want to put the ring my mum had on her finger on you in front of all these people, with my mum and your parents watching from above.
"Will you marry me?"
Saturday Night Live stars Colin Jost and Michael Che are presented the show in front of a star-studded audience.
Fans of Game Of Thrones expected big things from the hit HBO show after missing out on last year’s Emmys - and they weren't disappointed.
The hit series was up for 22 gongs, with Peter Dinklage breaking the record for the most nominations in the drama performance category after receiving his seventh nod.
He won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Tyrion Lannister in GoT.
The show was then handed the final award for Outstanding Drama Series.
Other highlights of the night included Claire Foy taking home Outstanding Lead Actress for The Crown, as well as other British talent celebrating wins including Matthew Rhys (The Americans) and Thandie Newton.
Godless star Thandie also left viewers at home in fits of giggles after she dropped the F-bomb and thanked God for her win, despite "not believing in her".
Despite the night appearing to go without a hitch, viewers at home slammed the show for its lack of diversity as the majority of winners were white people.
