Richard Blackwood signs up to Dancing On Ice 2019
ACTOR Richard Blackwood has signed up to take part in the next series of Dancing On Ice.
The 46-year-old, who was last seen playing Vincent Hubbard on EastEnders, is the second celeb to sign the dotted line after Gemma Collins and Wes Nelson.
A show source told The Sun Online: “Richard has joined the skating show and is really excited about learning to skate.
“Bosses think he’ll be a huge hit because he’s so funny and he always gives things 100 per cent.
“He has already started training and looks set to be one of the big stars of the series.”
The comedian previously told The Sun Online that he would be up for doing reality TV, particularly shows in the same vein as Strictly Come Dancing.
He said: "I think doing shows like Strictly... they're very credible, highly respected and they're good shows, so I'd definitely do that.”
Richard resurrected his career in 2015 when he joined EastEnders, but was disappointed when his character disappeared from the soap in April of this year.
He said at the time: “There was no bad vibe between me and EastEnders [about] leaving.
“It just so happened that I came to the end of my contract and they weren’t going to renew it.
“Don’t get me wrong, a part of me felt a bit hurt. Because I’ve done all this.”
Richard rose to fame as presenter on MTV before launching a music career, which failed to take off.
Yesterday The Sun revealed that Gemma Collins had also signed up for Dancing On Ice, which is hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
An insider of the veteran reality TV star: “Gemma was one of the first names they wanted to sign.
“They made her a big offer and are confident she will be one of the stars of the show this year.
“They think viewers will love to see her show off her dancing skills, particularly as Strictly turned her down.”
