Ant McPartlin celebrates being six months sober in social media post
ANT McPartlin is celebrating being six months sober as his long-term pal reveals he's the happiest he's been in years.
The troubled telly star's friend of 20 years, Simon Hargreaves, shared a photo of the pair this week.
He said: "Long overdue catch up with my buddy of 20+ years for lunch this week. 6 months sober, annoyingly healthy looking, and happier than I’ve seen him in years.
"Immensely proud of this lad for his strength and determination to face up to his issues and get help."
Ant retweeted the sweet post, adding: "Thanks pal. Really appreciate it. Lovely seeing you too.
"It really was long overdue. #weloveagoodlunch Hope you’re using your Jcrew tote bag!"
Ant was handed a 20-month driving ban for a drink-drive crash that left a four-year-old girl injured.
The 42-year-old presenter, who is worth £60m, admitted he had "alcohol and emotional issues" after pleading guilty to being twice the drink-driving limit at Wimbledon Magistrates Court in April.
He said he was "truly sorry" and checked himself into rehab.
Focusing on getting better, the Geordie presenter pulled out of all his TV commitments.
It was confirmed last month that Holly Willoughby will replace him on I'm a Celebrity this year as Declan Donnelly's new co-host.
While they're both Down Under presenting, Ant will continue his treatment.
As The Sun revealed in the summer, 42-year-old Ant found love with his personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett blossomed as she supported him through his drink and drug problems.
Last week they were spotted sharing a loving kiss on a dog walk in London.
Ant is still in the midst of divorcing his estranged wife Lisa Armstrong.
The make-up artist, 41, is said to be relieved to escape the "stress and drama" tonight as she returns to work on Strictly Come Dancing.
It's the first time she's returned to the BBC talent show to work behind-the-scenes since her marriage broke down.
