X FACTOR star Chico has revealed he suffered a stroke while driving because of a blood clot on his brain.
The 47-year-old singer is "resting and recovering well" at Barnett Hospital after his terrifying health scare.
But things could have turned out very differently, as Chico's representatives admit he is feeling "extremely lucky".
The reality show legend claims his life was saved by his healthy lifestyle and positive mental attitude following a stroke last week.
He is said to be "overwhelmed" by the support from fans.
In a statement, Chico's representatives said: "Chico is feeling extremely lucky and feeling grateful for leading such a healthy lifestyle and thankful to his fitness that has definitely helped save his life.
A STROKE is when the blood flow to the brain is damaged — usually by a clot, less often by a haemorrhage.
It can often be spotted because parts of the brain that control movement stop receiving a full blood supply.
Strokes in the under-60s are not that rare and younger people can — and do — suffer them.
The highest risk groups are those with high blood pressure, drinkers or smokers.
"His doctor said his body has recovered so incredibly well, despite having a full blown stroke caused by a cerebral blood clot.
"The doctor has said he can only put it down to his fitness levels and positive mental attitude.
"Chico is under the wonderful hands and care of the medical team at Barnett hospital and cannot thank the doctors and team enough for the amazing work and speed of treatment and tests."
The pop star, whose full name is Chico Slimani, shot to fame on The X Factor in 2005 and came in fifth.
He went on to score a chart hit with his track It’s Chico Time.
In 2014, Chico started a new career in the fitness industry and created Block Fit, where individuals exercise to music.
Insiders told The Sun Online he led a class there believing he was only suffering from a virus.
His family persuaded him to go to hospital where he discovered he had had a stroke.
