JOE Sugg is miles ahead of his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars in terms of popularity – with over 21.5 million fans following his social media platforms.

And it’s this influence, and that of his famous family and pals, which mean he’s already a shoe-in to waltz away with the Glitterball trophy.

His Jive on Saturday night’s live show saw him coming joint second on the leader board, with Faye Tozer, Dr Ranj Singh and Danny-John Jules.

On YouTube, the video has already wracked over one million hits and has 39,000 likes.

In comparison, Stacey Dooley’s Quickstep is the second most popular – but her clip only got 105,000 views and 18 likes.

Joe’s fans have already vowed to get him to the final of the competition and promised they’d be picking up the phone to vote for him next Saturday night.

And it’s not just his fans that will be supporting his journey.

Joe’s sister Zoella is one of the most famous YouTube stars of their generation, with a combined social media following of 8.5 million.

Along with her YouTube star boyfriend Alfie Deyes – who boasts 15.5 million fans – she proudly sat in the audience last Saturday cheering Joe and his partner Diane Buswell.

His famous pals, including YouTube famous couple Jim Chapman and Tanya Burr – who have over 17 million followers between them, Marcus Butler, with 12.3 million, and Caspar Lee, 17.9 million, will also likely be throwing their weight behind Joe in the competition.

All in, that’s a possible 77.2 million people who’ll be urged to pick up the phone and vote for Joe to stay in the competition after he next dances on Saturday night.

Or the population of the UK and Belgium combined.

Alfie tweeted after the first live show: “Damn I was not expecting that ! Smashed it and looked like you had a ton of fun. So proud of you man.”

The huge support means it's likely he could go on to win the show with dance partner Dianne Buswell - even if he failed to impress on the dancefloor

While Caspar posted a stream of messages to his five million Twitter followers, urging them to tune in and watch Joe competing in the series.

Those other stars really do have their work cut out.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday and Saturday on the BBC.
