The biographical comedy plots Dick Cheney (Bale) in his political rise to becoming the most powerful Vice President in America’s history.
It also stars Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, Steve Carell as Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams as Dick’s wife Lynne Cheney.

He played a leading behind-the-scenes role in Bush’s administration’s coordination of the Global War on Terrorism.
Dick was often criticised for numerous terrorism policies, including the decisions to wiretap citizens through the NSA as well as the approval of the CIA’s ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’.
He has been dubbed one of the least favoured politicians in American history, with an approval rating of just 13% when he left office.
What has Christian Bale said about playing George W. Bush’s Vice President?
Christian revealed to in January 2018 that he withholds his own views on Dick’s politics when it comes to portraying the man himself.
“I don’t want to do this as a ‘nudge-nudge, wink-wink’ performance. I don’t want to be revealing my own political leanings and then making a little joke.
“It’s totally irrelevant what I think. I’m an actor, I’m a vessel of that character.”
