Love Island’s Laura Anderson had hour long phone call with Paul Knops’ ex ‘to try to dig up dirt on him’ after split
LOVE Island’s Laura Anderson had an hour-long phone call with Paul Knops’ ex-girlfriend to try to dig up dirt on him after their split.
The Scottish beauty, 29, swapped notes with another of the hunky carpenter’s former lovers before sharing all with some of their co-stars at Dani Dyer’s In The Style launch last Wednesday.
However, Laura’s phone call has prompted some of her Love Island friends to secretly turn on her.
Sources say she’s been privately labelled “bitter” by her pals from the villa, who are criticising her response to the breakup.
One source said: “Laura was quite openly talking about her phone call with Paul’s ex and sharing some of the more explosive claims at Dani’s bash.
“She didn’t seem too worried about who was nearby and might overhear – including Paul, who also got an invite.
“Laura probably thought her friends would enjoy hearing some dirt – and some of them might have – but certain members of the cast believe she has crossed a line.”
But a source close to Laura insists: “Laura has never bad mouthed Paul in interviews out of respect for their time together.
“Laura was upset after their split but has since learned of Paul's many skeletons in his closet after being contacted by his ex-girlfriend.
“She went on the show to find love and for her it was about being in a genuine relationship. Laura has moved on now and is staying focused on her many work projects.”
Laura and Paul, 31, were joined by fellow Love Island stars Adam Collard, Alex George, Georgia Steel, Hayley Hughes, Jack Fincham, Niall Aslam, Sam Bird, Samira Mighty and Zara McDermott at Dani’s launch, which also saw her parents Danny Dyer and Joanne Mas attend.
The backlash to Laura’s phone call is another sign the bond between the Love Island cast could be crumbling behind the scenes.
It comes after Alex Miller revealed on talkRADIO there had been a mass exodus from the Love Island group WhatsApp chat after the party.
Paul recently told The Sun he dumped Laura in September as he couldn’t see himself marrying her.
He said: “We weren’t compatible for each other. I knew I had to be 100 per cent sure about it because you know – the next person you’re with could potentially be your wife; you don’t want to be unsure about it.
“We weren’t right for each other and that’s why we never made things official.
“Of course she was upset; there were tears. Obviously it isn’t nice when someone says they don’t want to be with you.
“We aren’t friends now – we haven’t spoken, it is a sore subject. But I told her I would be there for her if she needed me.”
Laura claimed they split after a three-week trip of Paul’s made her realise they weren’t suited.
She unfollowed him on social media and deleted a mention of him from her bio, but insisted the move wasn’t out of spite.
She said: "I don’t really want to see what he’s up to now because I’m not involved in that.
"You have a little look now and again and it torments you."
