LAST night Strictly Come Dancing fans were desperately trying to guess what Nicole Scherzinger said to Tess Daly during what viewers noticed was a very awkward interaction caught on camera.
Now a lip reader has revealed exactly what the singer muttered under her breath as the TV presenter spoke to those at home, while a body language has confirmed that the Pussycat Dolls star was clearly "unhappy" as her personal space was "invaded".
On yesterday evening's show - which saw the stars dress up in spooky costumes for a Halloween special - Tess and Nicole, who was there to support her former Pussycat Dolls band mate Ashley Roberts, could be seen sat closely next to each other in the audience.
As the camera panned to the pair, the former X Factor judge, 40, - who was sat with another fellow band mate Kimberley Wyatt, 36, on her left - appeared annoyed and said something to Tess, 49, just as the host began to present a segment.
According to lip reader Tina Lannin, the star said: "Your hair is touching me."
Indeed, as Tess spoke, she leaned in slightly towards the Nicole, causing her blonde curls to fall onto her interviewee's shoulder.
Nicole's body language indicated she was clearly "unhappy" about something as her personal space was "invaded", according to an expert.
Judi James, author and body language expert, said: "There is absolutely no mirroring between Nicole and Tess here, suggesting a lack of empathy or rapport.
"Tess does technically invade Nicole's space with her gesticulation as she talks, but in a friendly-looking way. You'd expect Nicole to do a bit of postural echoing here to create a good 'fit' for the cameras but instead she seems to study the space between them before making a comment to Tess.
"At that point Kimberley, who would have heard the words, seems to stop smiling and look back at the two women.
"The strange thing is that Nicole talks to Tess while Tess is presenting her piece to camera. I suspect Tess would have been reading off an autocue, and during scripted bits like this any guest knows to shut up and smile at the host.
"It's this that makes Nicole's 'aside' to Tess so odd and which would probably give the impression that Nicole was unhappy about something.
"Even if she thought she was off screen at that moment it would be more TV-normal to sit silently."
The presenter then launched into her interview with the singer, who won Dancing With The Stars in 2010.
It comes after viewers of the popular BBC One dance show claimed Nicole told Tess to "get away" from her as they attempted to decipher what she had said.
Taking to Twitter, one fan shared the clip and asked: "Any lipreaders able to work out what Nicole Scherzinger is saying to Tess? Looks a lot like 'don't sit so close to me'."
Another tweeted: "@bbcstrictly Did anyone else notice Nicole Scherzinger @NicoleScherzy say to Tess Daly 'Don't sit so close to me' right as the cameras cut to Tess to introduce the last dance? Wow."
A third replied: "I'm still trying to work out exactly what she said. Got the impression it was along the lines of that or you're on my dress."
The other viewer replied: "She definitely says something '...close to me' The look on her face says it all."
A fourth viewer asked: "What did Nicole say to Tess before AJ and Lauren's dance?? Hmmmmm #Strictly."
She had one of her songs feature on the Halloween Special, as Lauren Steadman danced a Paso Doble to her hit solo single, Poison.
Last night's show also saw viewers mock Darcey Bussell after she made a big blunder live on air.
The Dame was critiquing Charles Venn's Jive with his partner Karen Clifton when she mixed up her words.

She said: "You started so well, the attack, the intent, full energy, it was a fast and frantic Jive.
"There was a moment where you really had timing issues. I saw two Pacific, very Pacific, sadly."
Those watching at home quickly realised the 49-year-old wasn't talking about her next holiday, but had in fact meant 'specific'.
