Who is James Tate in Emmerdale?
James Francis Tate is the son of Kim Tate and her late husband Frank.
He’s half-brother to Zoe and Chris Tate and uncle to their kids – Noah Dingle, Joe Tate and Jean Tate.
He’s also half brother to Liam Hammond, Frank’s illegitimate son.
He was last seen disappearing in a helicopter with his mum in 1999 when he was three-years-old.
After James was born, he was at the centre of a Who’s the Daddy storyline as Kim didn’t know if he was the son of Frank or her lover Dave Glover.
Dave tragically died saving James from a fire and paternity tests actually revealed Frank was the dad.
With Frank being Joe Tate’s grandfather it means James is uncle to Joe Tate who is believed to be dead.
Is James Tate returning to Emmerdale?
Kim Tate recently returned to Emmerdale for a short stint in October 2018 when she was released from prison.
Unfortunately she was soon rearrested after being caught driving without insurance and was sent back to jail to carry out the rest of her sentence.
Before she was taken away she told her lover Graham Foster to find James and bring him to the village.
Claire King, who plays Kim and is returning to Emmerdale full time next year has teased about her screen son arriving on the ITV soap.
She said: “He's bound to be young, glamorous, gorgeous – they're going to bring that kind of character in to replace Ned aren't they?
"He'll be a good looking young boy. They haven't spoken for a while so that's why she's asked Graham to try and find James.
"There were very few people or things Kim genuinely loved last time – James was one, David was another, Seth and her horses. And that was about it.
She had total disrespect for anybody else in the whole world, she didn't care."
