Professor Brian Cox

Brian Edward Cox is an English physicist who works at the University of Manchester as particle physics professor within their School of Physics and Astronomy.

The 50-year-old was born on March 3, 1968, in Lancashire.

The Oldham native is best known for his onscreen work for science programmes like the Wonders of… series, as well as writing popular science books including Why Does E=mc2? and the Quantum Universe.

To date, he has authored or co-authored over 950 scientific publications.

Susie Dent

Susie Dent is an English lexicographer and etymologist from Woking.

She studies modern languages at the University of Oxford’s Somerville College before getting a master’s degree in German at Princeton University.

She made a name for herself on TV thanks to her role in Channel 4’s Countdown and Susie Dent’s Guide to Swearing.

The famous word master has already published countless books all about language and words.

How long has The One Show been running?

The magazine-style show has been running for over a decade, with the first ever episode having aired on August 14, 2006.

From 2007 to 2010, the programme was hosted by Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, before Alex Jones and Jason Manford took the helm, later being replaced by Matt Baker.

Chris Evans oversaw the Friday night hour-long episodes from 2010 to 2015.

The likes of Dermot O’Leary, Phil Tufnell, Zoe Ball and Fearne Cotton are among the guest presenters who have stood in for the regular duos.
