GWYNETH Paltrow has revealed that she is in the early stages of menopause - and is struggling with severe mood swings.
The 46-year-old actress spoke of her desire to "rebrand" menopause, adding that it has a "really bad rap".
The star made the comments in an online video for her lifestyle company , where she spoke candidly about her own experiences of perimenopause - the transition that begins several years before menopause.
Gwyneth opened up about the changes she was feeling in her body, sharing: "When you get into perimenopause you notice a lot of changes.
"I can feel hormonal shifts happening, the moods, you’re all of a sudden furious for no reason."
The mother-of-two added that she was also experiencing increased sweating.
Speaking about her desire to change society's view of the process, Gwyneth continued: "Menopause gets a really bad rap and needs a bit of rebranding.
"I remember when my mother went through menopause and it was such a big deal and I think there was grief around it for her and all these emotions.
"I don’t think we have in society a great example of an aspirational menopausal woman."
The comments come shortly after Gwyneth teased that she has a "satisfying sex life" with her new husband, TV producer Brad Falchuk.
The actress tied the knot with the Glee producer in September.
Revealing her desire to change the stigma around women's sexual health, Gwyneth told : "Women, I think have a lot of shame around their sexuality – we have been conditioned that way for a long time.
"We feel if we open up conversations, sell a product and we shine a light on it, the shame starts to dissipate...
She then added: "Women should have a great and satisfying sex life! I think that sexual health is important for a women’s overall health."
Gwyneth and Brad first met on set of Glee in 2010, and started dating five years later after she "consciously uncoupled" from ex-husband Chris Martin.
They said their "I do's" in the garden of her posh Hamptons home in front of their close family and friends.
Gwyneth shares daughter Apple, 14, and son Moses, 12, with the Coldplay rocker, while Brad shares two children with his ex-wife Suzanne.
