'I SEE YA, HOLD TIGHT'

Geri Horner finally solves mystery of one of the Spice Girls’ most famous lyrics

IF you've been warbling Spice Up Your Life into your hairbrush all day at the news the Spice Girls are reforming, put down the Tangle Teezer - because there's every chance you've been singing it wrong.

Geri Horner has revealed one of the band's famous lyrics from the 1997 hit is not in fact, "I see ya, hold tight!" but something much more complex.

The 46-year-old today tweeted: "Hai Si Ja hold tight!"

Well, consider our minds blown. Many fans for years had been singing either "I see ya" or "Hi, see ya" at the end of Spice Up Your Life.

As one follower admitted: "I was today years old when I found out the lyrics weren’t 'ha, see ya, hold tight.'

"I get it now, yes in different languages. Genius."

In fact, it would mean "yes, yes, yes" in three different countries.

"Hai" means yes in Japanese, "si" yes in both Italian and Spanish and "Ja" yes in Germany.

It's certainly not the first time the girls have whacked out the English to Spanish dictionary, with "Hasta manana”, which means "see you later” popping up in Viva Forever.

Earlier today, the girls officially announced their huge UK comeback tour with a hilarious new video.

Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri all appeared in the minute-long clip, which sees them bicker in a TV news-style format.

The girls will play six stadium shows across the UK next year with support from Jess Glynne, and tickets go on sale Saturday at 10.30am.

Starting at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on June 1, the group will call at Coventry's Ricoh Stadium two days later, the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on June 6, BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on June 8, Bristol's Ashton Gate Stadium on June 10, and end on June 15 at London's Wembley Stadium.

Emma explained: "It’s time to spice things up all over again!!!!! I can’t wait to perform to our forever supporting fans and a whole new spice generation! Love you all!”

Even Victoria Beckham, who's not part of the reunion, is supporting the girls.

She said: “Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish my girls so much love and fun as they go back on tour, I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”
