Love Island’s Dr Alex George reveals he’s ditching fame and returning to work for the NHS this week
LOVE Island's Alex George today announced that he's returning to work for the NHS.
The ITV2 star, who failed to find love on the popular reality show, has showcased his medical expertise on Good Morning Britain since leaving the Villa and also lent his name to a number of health campaigns and initiatives.
Yet, it appears that Alex's five-month stint in the spotlight has left him longing for his full-time A&E career and he revealed on Instagram today that he'll be heading back to the NHS this week.
The unlucky-in-love star, who has amassed 1.3million followers since leaving the Island, said that he's ditching fame to go back to what he loves - helping others.
Posting a photo of his tweet, it read: "Love Island was the experience of a lifetime, but ever since I left the villa I've genuinely missed working for the NHS.
"That's why this week, I'm going back to A&E. I trained for years for the opportunity to help people, and I can't wait to get back to doing what I love."
Captioning the screen grab, the Welsh doctor said that he will continue to use his platform to promote and discuss topics close to his heart.
"I'll be using my platform to raise awareness around health issues among young people," he said.
"Hopefully I'll be able to give you a bit of insight into what it's like on the front lines of the NHS. I hope you all continue this incredible journey with me. Here we go!"
The reality TV star proved unlucky-in-love in the villa yet in September he sparked rumours that he was dating Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller when he enjoyed two cosy dates with the athlete.
The A&E medic won over Love Island viewers this summer with his intellect and awkward flirting techniques.
However, he failed to find The One in the villa, after short-lived flings with Samira Mighty, Ellie Brown and Alexandra Cane.
