How old is Esther Rantzen?

Dame Esther Rantzen, 71, is from Berkhamsted, Hampshire.

She began her career as a trainee studio manager with the BBC.

Her first production job was as a researcher on the BBC late night satire programme BBC 3.

She also worked on the BBC Two documentary series Man Alive in the mid 1960s.

When was Esther Rantzen on That's Life?

Esther Rantzen presented That's Life for 21 years from 1973 to 1994.

The consumer show carried out investigations and also featured comedy interludes.

Esther is set to return as a consultant when the show is revived in 2019. 

She said: “It talked about injustices, washing machines that broke and showed you a talking dog at its funniest.”

What is Esther Rantzen's charity?

In 2013 Esther Rantzen set up the charity The Silver Line.

It aims to help the elderly to combat loneliness and isolation.

The charity also offers a 24/7 helpline and a volunteer led befriending service.

In 2015 Esther was included in the New Years Honours List for her work with ChildLine and The Silver Line.

Is Esther Rantzen married?

Esther Rantzen married the late BBC documentary make Desmond Wilcox in 1977.

They were together for 30 years until his death from heart disease in 2000.
