Loose Women’s Lisa Maxwell feared for her health after becoming a ‘slave to Botox’
The star regularly had the treatment in a bid to keep her youthful looks but has since grown used to the ageing process
LISA Maxwell worried for her health after regularly getting Botox.
The actress, 55, had the cosmetic treatment previously but has since accepted her looks changing with age.
She told “I’ve had Botox in the past; I don’t have it so much now just because you try things out and if you are going through an insecure age you will try it.
“But actually, then you become a slave to it so you have to be careful – and then your face stops moving and you start looking a bit weird. It doesn’t work for me.
“It does stop you getting lines but the psychological thing that goes with that is when the lines start to show again they suddenly look massive – and you get even more angst about it.
“I think everybody knows if you’ve had something done. I’m a mother of a 19-year-old daughter and I think it sends out the wrong messages if you worry about that stuff too much.”
The former Loose Women panellist added that she believes there is far too much pressure on young females to worry about their appearances due to social media.
She concluded: “It’s a better lesson to try to accept who you are really if you can.”
Fellow Loose Woman Andrea McLean, 49, found herself the subject of criticism by her co-stars and viewers last week after getting Botox.
Commenting on how she looked afterwards, actress Linda Robson told her: "I couldn't take my eyes off you."

She added: "That's the thing about working with your mates, you lot were all like, 'What have you done?'
"I don't mind it, one I like to be honest about it, like I say I haven't had any for a year, but I saw someone the other day and she literally saw me from the other side of the room.
"She made an absolute b-line for me and went: 'Babe you've got to do something with that, you've really got to do something with that'" as she gestured to the wrinkle on her forehead.”
