Love Island’s Megan Barton Hanson slammed by fans for smoking in New Year message
LOVE Island's Megan Barton Hanson has come under fire from her fans for clasping a smouldering cigarette in her New Year message.
The 24-year-old star addressed her followers shrouded in smoke, with a big pile of fag ash about to tumble to the floor - and followers told her exactly what they thought of her habit.
Countless fans told her "Don’t smoke" and "Smoking kills" while another warned she was destined to spend her days "rasping like an old Labrador".
Another wrote sarcastically: "Ah yes promote smoking to your young audience, bravo 👏👏👏."
One other took a similar line, posting: "Well done! How clever promoting smoking to kids who probably look up to you! Disgusting post."
A fourth insisted smoking made the former exotic dancer unattractive, writing: "Ha ha ha ha u went from a 10 to a 2 the second I saw that fag u nittbag."
A further critic warned: "Not sure the cigarette is a good look, or inspirational to younger people. 😡."
Megan's message was certainly overshadowed by the fag-ash firestorm, with few fans taking the speech she'd posted alongside it on board.
The star, who coupled up with Wes Nelson on the show, raved about their relationship in the message.
She said: "2018 has been a b****y hard one to say the least, HUGE ups and downs.
"I’m so blessed to have been picked for Love island and to have come out having found my soul mate, the man that one day I want to marry.
"At the same time this year has been one of the hardest mentally."
She added: "I’ve spoken out about my dark times last January, then since leaving the villa family issues have occurred that break my heart to watch unfold in-front of me!"
However, Megan added: "It was so magical watching the fireworks knowing we have such exciting things to look forward to this coming year.
"I was squeezing @wes.nelson hand so so tight! Soz may have got a tad over excited! 😳."
