Idris Elba mocks Bond rumours as he poses for ‘awkward’ selfie next to Daniel Craig at Golden Globes
The 46-year-old star is one of the hot contenders to replace Craig when he bows out of the 007 role next year
IDRIS Elba joked he felt “awkward” sitting next to Daniel Craig at last night’s Golden Globes.
The Luther star poked fun at rumours he’s set to be the next James Bond as he took a seat next to the current 007.
The pair then played up to the camera with Daniel shooting an evil glance while Idris, 46, delivered some serious side eye.
“Awks….” he wrote across the snap, before captioning it: “Er…”
Daniel will reprise his role as the iconic secret agent next year – though he has insisted it will be his last run as Bond.
Idris is the front-funner to replace the British actor, though he has denied having any talks.
Addressing rumours previously, he claimed: “I think it’s more about, ‘We just want to have a black guy play James Bond’ rather than, ‘Idris Elba, the actor, play James Bond.’
“That’s the part I’m like, ‘Ugh, come on’.”
As well as Idris, handsome Scot Richard Madden is also hotly-tipped to take over the reins from Craig after impressing audiences with his performance in Bodyguard.
Richard is now officially the bookies’ favourite to take on the coveted role when Craig steps down.
Last night the actor only improved his chances after scooping the prestigious Best Actor in a Drama TV Series award at the Golden Globes.
It was previously rumoured producers were keen that he boost his US profile before signing him up.
