Strictly Come Dancing bosses ask Huw Edwards to join Chris Evans and Alan Carr on this year’s series
SLIMMED-down Huw Edwards is weighing up whether to swap news bongs for dance gongs and join Strictly.
The News At Ten anchor, 57, says he is “gauging public opinion”.
Last year Huw — who has shed 3st — was as a VIP guest on the hit dance show.
Now BBC bosses have asked him to join DJ Chris Evans and comic Alan Carr and compete later this year.
Huw told Radio 2’s Steve Wright yesterday: “Following my stellar appearance reading out the terms and conditions in early December, where I basically set the British television world alight, I was asked if I’d consider Strictly.
“And I think the answer is, Steve, I’ve come here today for some advice. Despite all appearances, I am quite shy.”
Talking about Strictly’s sexy outfits, he added: “That’s what scares me. I think I’ve just got to ponder it . . . just gauge public opinion.”
Meanwhile Strictly judge Shirley Ballas, 58, right, has revealed she has found a new man — a month after telling The Sun she is looking for love.
She said yesterday, “I’ve met somebody nice,” adding that she’d had “the best Christmas ever”.
