CORONATION Street fans are furious as Nick Tilsley was revealed as the man who stole his grandmother Audrey Roberts' money.
The businessman - who is played by actor Ben Price in the ITV soap - showed off his ill-gotten gains at the end of tonight's second episode after trying to convince his grandmother to let the theft go and accept Lewis stole from her.
After Audrey made a show of herself at Lewis' funeral by accusing Claudia Colby of ripping her off with Lewis, Nick went home and revealed the sordid truth.
Opening up to girlfriend Leanne Battersby, Nick all but admitted to the theft with his words.
"She thinks Claudia's in on it too," he said.
"You know if Claudia did take it, she'd be hard pushed to spend the cash that quickly. That's if she did take it out in cash.
"That's the challenge, isn't it? Laundering it, making it look legit."
But as Leanne wondered out loud what £80,000 in cash would look like, Nick decided to remind himself.
Opening up his gym bag, he pulled the zip down to reveal it was stuffed full of cash and that he was the one who stole Audrey's money.
Viewers know Nick has debts to pay to his wife after stealing £40,000 from her, but it was only confirmed tonight how he had stolen the inheritence Audrey received from her old friend Archie Shuttleworth.
But after Audrey's devastation was laid bare, viewers were furious that Nick could have done this and robbed Audrey of the truth that Lewis did love her and didn't steal her money.
One wrote: "Nick how could you?!"
A second added: "Did not think it would be anything to do with Nick! #Corrie".
Another tweeted: "So Nick stole from Audrey! He’s been shifty ever since he returned last year. I think it’s all building to something bigger #Corrie."
