CORONATION Street fans are convinced that Nick Tilsley has become Weatherfield's new "super-villain" after it was confirmed that he stole £80,000 from gran Audrey Roberts in the ITV soap.
Last night the bad boy showed off his ill-gotten gains after trying to convince his grandmother to let the theft go and accept Lewis Archer had stolen from her before his shock death.
Corrie bosses previously teased that an established character will become "corrupted", making them "a complicated villainous presence on the cobbles" - eventually knocking down the factory and killing another resident in scenes that will air in March.
Viewers now reckon that Nick's recent behaviour is proof that he will become the villain - who is set to torment the rest of the street for years.
Taking to social media, one fan said: "I honestly think Nick is going to be the new @itvcorrie villain who will burn down Peter's boat, cause the factory roof to collapse and probably a load more bad stuff."
Another added: "Watch this space. Nick will be the new #corrie villain."
A third tweeted: "I’ve said this quite a few times, while Peter is becoming a better person, Nick is becoming more darker.
"Even though I would love it if they were both as bad as each other, I think it could be very interesting to see Peter the unlikely hero vs Nick the unlikely villain."
In the second episode of the soap to air last night, viewers saw Nick open his gym bag to reveal the thousands of pounds in cash.
Fans know that Nick has debts to pay to his wife after stealing £40,000 from her - and fans theorised last week that he was the one to steal Audrey's inheritance from her old friend Archie Shuttleworth.

After Audrey's heartache was laid bare, viewers were fuming that Nick could have robbed Audrey of both the money and the truth that Lewis did genuinely love her.
One wrote at the time: "Nick how could you?!"
A second added: "Did not think it would be anything to do with Nick! #Corrie".
Another tweeted: "So Nick stole from Audrey! He’s been shifty ever since he returned last year. I think it’s all building to something bigger #Corrie".
