Liam Payne gets Brit Award nomination for sexy Rita Ora collab – but Cheryl misses out
The former One Direction singer and Rita are up for British Artist Video Of The Year for their Fifty Shades Freed duet For You
LIAM PAYNE has been nominated for a Brit Award for his sizzling duet with Rita Ora while his ex Cheryl has missed out.
The former One Direction singer performed For You from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack with Rita at last year's ceremony and now has the chance to get his hands on a gong.
Cheryl's big comeback with Love Made Med Do It was released in time to be eligible for this year's ceremony, but industry figures didn't rate it enough for it to fight for a prize.
The single limped into the Chart at Number 19 back in November, but quickly nosedived to Number 48.
Liam and Cheryl famously attended the event inside London's O2 Arena last year, defiantly battling on despite reports of unhappiness in their relationship.
But just months later they announced their split due to incompatible work schedules.
During their Brits 2018 performance, Rita and Liam swapped previous raunchy routines that saw them nearly kiss, for a more subdued effort.
However, following Liam and Cheryl's split in July the pair's subsequent performances regained their steamy edge.
Dua Lipa leads this year's Brit Awards nominations with four nods, while George Ezra and Anne-Marie each have three.
The 23-year-old singer appears twice in the British Single category with her hits IDGAF and Calvin Harris collab One Kiss, and the same two songs also feature in the British Artist Video Of The Year list.
Bizarrely, she missed out in the British Female Solo category, with industry bods opting for Florence And The Machine, Jorja Smith, Lily Allen, Jess Glynne and Anne-Marie.
The ever-popular George Ezra faces stiff competition from Craig David, Sam Smith, Giggs and Aphex Twin in the British Male Solo category, and he's also in contention for the big Album Of The Year Prize alongside Anne-Marie, Florence, The 1975 and Jorja.
Anne-Marie's other category is Video Of The Year, the most hotly contested with 10 tracks up for consideration.
After bursting back onto the scene in 2016 after a decade-long absence from the pop music big leagues, Craig David will be desperate to land his first Brit.
