One wrote: "That’s wrong that Didi should go before Gemma ! At least she didn’t fall #dancingonice"

A second said: "That’s it not watching #DancingOnIce anymore (not really) Didi Conn is a legend and should have stayed."

Another added: "Totally wrong, Didi just went home, the most funny and lovable person ever to be on DOI. :("

Judge Jason Gardiner said the show had "lost a little bit of its heart" as the actress exited the ITV competition.

Conn, known for playing Frenchie in the 1978 film Grease, said she had "loved" the experience.

"And I enjoyed my partner," she said of professional skater Lukasz Rozycki.

"He's the best in the world. And he's a good cook too."

Conn and Aalto ended up in the bottom two after a public vote, and judges Gardiner, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo chose to save Aalto.

Former Dancing On Ice winner Sam Attwater echoed their sentiments on Twitter.

The EastEnders actor wrote: "I think dancingonice has lost a great asset to this years show tonight. Didi & Lukasz were one of the highlights each week. The best one to watch, a true performer and industry legend!"

Sunday night's show also saw performances from the rest of the contestants, with many scoring personal bests.

James Jordan was the first to skate and racked up a series high of 31.5, but was quickly overtaken by Melody Thornton, who earned 32.5.

Gardiner had a run-in with Collins during last weekend's show, when he criticised her performance and she accused him of selling stories about her.

But this week he said she had done better, saying: "When you drop the 'GC' and come in and apply yourself, you have improved."

Torvill and Dean also performed during Sunday's show.

Dancing On Ice continues on ITV.
