Why is Nick Tilsley scamming Audrey Roberts in Coronation Street?

Nick has had money problems since he returned to Weatherfield.

He’s got to pay his secret wife Elsa back after taking £40k from their joint account and buying Peter Barlow’s share of Underworld from him.

He’s also got to cough up for a divorce from the wife he met, married and left in just over a year. And as we all know, divorce isn’t cheap.

And Nick still desperately wants to impress his current girlfriend Leanne Battersby as he proved by paying for a flat for her and her sister Toyah even though he later moved in himself.

He also showed off to her by gifting her with an expensive diamond necklace that Elsa got wind of, leading her to decide she wanted more money in their divorce settlement.

Nick also stated to his brother David Platt that he intended to pay Audrey back when he could and it wasn’t really stealing as she was left the money by Archie Shuttleworth.

He has been trying to ease his conscience by telling himself it’s not as if he took her life savings.

Is Nick Tilsley Coronation Street’s new super villain?

After scamming his gran, Corrie fans decided that Nick was a dead cert to be the new Super-Villain boss Iain MacLeod had spoken about previously.

Actor Jack P Shepherd who plays Nick’s brother David Platt revealed that it is indeed Nick who goes bad and that a Cain and Abel style feud between the brothers will last for a whole year.

Speaking to Digital Spy on the red carpet at the National Television Awards in January, Jack said: “I didn't know this, but Iain [MacLeod, producer] came out and said that it's gonna go on for like a year. I thought it was done, but apparently it's not!

"It's gonna go on for a bit and they're gonna be a bit bad, a bit sort of evil. We've never seen that side to Nick, which is interesting. They can go down that route and sort of blame it on his brain injury, that David sort of gave him!"

He added: "They've wanted to do that for a while. For a long time they've wanted to do that, but it's never quite happened so it's nice that Iain's exploring that."
