Melody Thornton’s Dancing On Ice future hangs in the balance after she smashes her chin into the ice in horror fall
The 34-year-old singer has had back to back physio sessions to try and stabilise her shoulder but is determined not to change her routine for Sunday night's show
MELODY Thornton's future on Dancing On Ice is in jeopardy after the star smashed her chin into the ice yesterday in a horror fall.
The former Pussycat Doll, 34, was rehearsing her routine for Sunday's show when she crashed to the ice with her partner Alex Demetriou landing on top of her.
A show insider told The Sun Online: "Melody's been really shaken up by the fall.
"Her chin took the brunt of the fall with her partner then crashing into her, leaving her in a lot of pain.
"Last night she had to pull out of attending the world premiere of Alita and has been having back to back sessions with the physio to stabilise her shoulder.
"Melody's determined to still do her routine as planned although medical advice is to rest for the next 24 hours.
"She's a perfectionist and wants to do the best routine she can."
The US star smiled through the pain today and told fans she's trying to keep her chin up.
Speaking on Instagram, she said: "I can hardly use my arms at all, which is great, because who needs arms when you're ice skating?
"I'm working on staying positive and am trying to find a way of getting through this performance on Sunday.
"If I look good, I don't feel good [laughs]. Just so you know."
Last week Melody became the first contestant to perform the death-defying headbanger on her way to topping the leaderboard with an impressive 32.5.
She's the latest celeb to suffer a serious injury in rehearsals after Brian McFadden dislocated his shoulder and Ryan Sidebottom missed last week's show with a Grade one adductor strain.
Meanwhile Gemma Collins was lucky to avoid serious injury when she fell face first on the ice during her televised performance.
The GC suffered heavy bruising to her legs and used a wheelchair the day after the tumble.
Just last week Melody told The Sun Online she was "just trying not to die" while practising the headbanger.
It's not the first time Melody has hit her face off the unforgiving ice.
Before her debut performance she told us how she was left wanting to cry after hitting the deck.
She explained: "The worst for me is there's a little bitty part of the blade in the back of your skate that if you put your other skate on top of that and then move an inch, you will just fall out of nowhere. It's like getting shot. It's crazy.
"I was trying to put one foot behinds the other and I stepped on my blade and went backwards flying but landed on my face. It was so intense. You immediately want to cry. It's like when you're a kid and you can't help it.
"I've fallen on my hips and things and the bruising is like 'wow, OK'."
