THE Greatest Dancer viewers questioned whether Cheryl made a mistake in the opening dance number for the first live instalment of the BBC One dance show.
The former X Factor judge was praised by fans for her mentoring skills - but left them confused when she stumbled at the beginning of her energetic dance routine with fellow mentors Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison.
Taking to Twitter moments after 35-year-old Cheryl made her debut in tonight's episode, fans accused the mother-of-one of "forgetting" her choreography.
One wrote: "#GreatestDancer opening let down by Cheryl there, out of time and just looked awkward!!!"
Another said: "So cringe watching Cheryl try to keep up with Matt and Oti and totally forget the choreography...... #awks".
A third tweeted: "Cheryl f***ed up the choreography and she's a mentor... #awkward #thegreatestdancer".
Others simply accused Cheryl of not being up to her co-stars standards, writing: "Oh, Cheryl. Being on stage with Oti and Matthew does not highlight your strengths."
Another said: "You really can’t put Cheryl on stage next to Matthew and OTI who absolutely smashed it!"
However, the response wasn't all bad - with some fans taking to social media to praise Cheryl's mentoring skills.
One wrote: "I don’t care what anyone says, Cheryl makes for a phenomenal captain. She’s literally in her element. Look at her truly guide her acts."
Another added: "I can't get over how good @CherylOfficial looks tonight and that entrance."
Tonight's live show opened with Cheryl, Oti and Matthew bursting onto the stage to dance together, with all three judges having the same routine to learn.
However, Cheryl seemingly stumbled over the moves and lost track of the steps as she tried to keep up with her co-stars.
Each of the mentors then danced with their final three, putting on a show as they introduced the finalists.
