The model's time on the show ended after he lost the duel against Shark tribe leader Tom

SHIPWRECKED contestant Harry was “overwhelmed” and “gutted” that he lost his place on the island after going head to head with Tom in a duel, in scenes which aired this evening.

The 24-year-model admitted he was pleased he was in the water when he found out he was going, because he struggled to hold back the tears.

Speaking to The Sun Online about his departure, he said: “I was gutted to leave when I left, I built a really good bond with Tigers and Sharks.

“I was sad to miss the end of the journey with them. I didn’t have a clue it was coming. I knew something was brewing but no idea what.”

During tonight’s episode the contestants were shocked when they were faced with a massive twist as just one new arrival arrived – meaning that two of the original members had to go head to head in a duel.

The Tiger and Shark tribe leaders, Harry and Tom had to hold up a baton for as long as possible and the first person to drop it would get kicked out.

Harry added: “When I left – put it this way – lucky I was in the water because when I said goodbye to all of the Tigers and they were so emotional and I nearly cracked myself.

“Thank god they were splashing me. I was overwhelmed, I didn’t realise I made such an impact on them. I was really over overwhelmed when I left.”

Those watching at home noticed that Harry appeared to brush Tom off as he went in for a hug after his exit was revealed.

Harry now admits he was playing up for the cameras, saying: “I deliberately brushed Tom off for the TV, just purely for entertainment value like most of the show.
