DISNEY revealed the first look at Will Smith's blue Genie tonight and it did not go down well.

The iconic character will appear in the live action re-telling of Aladdin later this year but the first look at the wish-granting blue one left some fans terrified, and others just disappointed.

One disturbed fan wrote: "The genie in this new Aladdin movie is not OK. Cease and desist immediately."

A second said: "Will Smith genie is what appears in my room when I have sleep paralysis."

A third tweeted: "Just a clip from the new Aladdin movie and omg Will Smith as the genie is the worst thing I’ve ever seen."

Another said: "Aladdin doesn't look HORRIBLE... but Genie looks like a Snapchat filter."

A fifth commented: "Will Smith looks like he went to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and tried the gum that consists of three courses including blueberry pie for dessert."

However, it wasn't all bad and some fans defended the movie for making the best of what would undoubtedly be a difficult feat to transform Will Smith into a otherworldly magical genie.

One said: "I don’t know what everyone was expecting from a live action Genie from Aladdin.

"Honestly doesn’t look great but I mean, it’s a blue floating giant genie and it’s about as good as he could probably look in live action."

Another added: "2 months ago everyone was complaining that Will Smith wasn't blue on the cover of Entertainment Weekly & now y'all complaining he's blue in the trailer. Twitter, man."

But while the blue Genie has let fans down, it hasn't stopped them from swooning over villain Jafar.
