The vet was crushed under hay bales in the barn by her unknowing boyfriend Pete Barton
RHONA Goskirk has been left devastated in Emmerdale after being told she will need a hysterectomy.
The vet - who is played by actress Zoe Henry in the ITV soap - was crushed under hay bales in the barn by her unknowing boyfriend Pete Barton.
She was rushed to hospital in am ambulance after she was eventually found bleeding in the barn.
And after emergency surgery to repair the trauma of the accident, the doctors had bad news for Rhona.
The doctor told her: "In order to repair the tear on your bowel, we had to run a CT scan and I'm afraid we found some abnormal growths.
"It's not cancer, it's fibroids. So for the most part they are non-invasive, however yours are quite extensive.
"There are a couple of options open to you - you could try to shrink slowly using hormone treatment.
"The other option is to remove them in one fell swoop. We'd look at giving you a hysterectomy."
An emotional Rhona turned to Pete and said: "I won't be having any more kids, Pete."
Viewers were heartbroken for Rhona and Pete and took to Twitter to share their feelings.
One wrote: "Nooo she won’t be able to have children I really hope this doesn’t ruin Pete and Rhona
A second said: "Poor Rhona, she won't be able to actually have any more kids seriously?"
"Poor Rhona #Emmerdale," a third lamented.
Another added: "Why you do Pete and Rhona like that, #Emmerdale?!"
"This is going to break Pete and Rhona apart, isn't it? #Emmerdale," a fan pondered.
