PIERS Morgan says Ant McPartlin "isn't able" to take a joke like he used to after teasing him over his National TV Awards nomination.
The TV presenter made the comment as he settled his feud with Ant after mocking his mental health battle, speaking to the .
The controversial Good Morning Britain presenter, 53, hit headlines when he said Ant , 43,was "walking the dog for a year" when he got his nomination.
But the pair, who became pals when Piers was a judge on Britain's Got Talent and Ant was a co-host, made up after Ant called him to say "no hard feelings."
However, today the outspoken morning show host said the star might not be able to cope with jokes like "old Ant."
He said: "Most of the stuff I do is tongue in cheek and when I was doing that, maybe I hadn't fully appreciated he might not have been in the right place to deal with jibes like the 'old Ant'."
He added: "I get that he has been through a difficult time."
"I hope he bounces back strongly and does a good year of working and I won't be moaning next year about his dogwalking."
The drama kicked off initially last month when the nominations for the biggest night in British TV came in - and Ant and Dec were up for their 18th consecutive nomination in the Best Presenter category.
Piers said: "Dec? Sure he's put a shift in, us? Hundreds of days at the coal face in the morning."
"Walking the dog for a year, television personality of the year. Me? Coal face every morning, hours on end, week after week...nothing, not a dickie bird.
"Imagine Britain, if that is a reasonable way to conduct the awards season business, seriously."
