Who is Bailey’s mum in EastEnders and why did Mitch Baker lie about being her dad?
So…she’s Mitch Baker’s daughter after all but why has he been trying to keep the little girl’s ID secret?
EASTENDERS boss Kate Oates promised there would be another addition to the Taylor/Baker clan this year and now we know that li'l cutie Bailey is Mitch Baker’s daughter.
But why has he been trying to keep it on the DL? Let’s find out…
Who is Bailey’s mum in EastEnders?
Bailey’s mum is a lady called Deana and it was revealed on March 1 2019 that Deana is terminally ill.
Fans knew that Bailey had been caring for her mum but it wasn’t revealed that she was dying.
A social worker arrived on the Square wanting to talk to Mitch about Bailey’s care plan once the time comes.
He revealed that Bailey needed a permanent home and asked Mitch if he’d managed to sort that out yet. Mitch said he was working on it.
He then approached his ex, Karen – mother of his son Keegan – and told her Deana is dying.
He asked her if she’d look after Bailey with him when she was gone but Karen didn’t react very well.

Why did Mitch Baker lie about being Bailey’s dad?
He hasn’t said his reasons for keeping Bailey’s identity secret but it seems to mostly be because he was worried about upsetting son Keegan Baker.
Mitch hasn’t been around for much of the troubled teen’s life and dropping a secret sister on him while he is still grieving for his murdered best mate Shakil Kazemi would’ve been a bit much.
Mitch also clearly has a strong bond with his daughter, something which he doesn’t share with his son.
It seems that Mitch wanted the Taylor clan to get to know Bailey before dropping the bombshell on them that he wants them to take her in.
